We’ve all been hit hard by the Corona Virus Pandedmic.
Dance Studios have had to close their doors and now are looking at how they can continue classes online
In the Spotlight Productions has been filming Dance Concerts for over 20 years and one thing I’ve learnt is that your Dance Studio is not just a business, it’s a family.
The Zoom platform is one of the ways many of you are delivering online classes.
As part of our corporate video operations I have used zoom quite a bit over the last few years.
I thought I’d just share some ideas on how you can make it work.
Firstly, the question is do you do the lesson live? I think there are 2 good options.
If you pre-record your class and then have a zoom meeting with the students, you can play the video you have pre-recorded. Just share your screen and the app you are playing it through on zoom.
You can watch the students as they follow the class and stop at any time if you want to add anything.
Of course you could also do the whole lesson live. This might be a bit daunting, but it does make it even more interactive.
The other area you might need to look at is the sound. If it’s possible for you I would invest in a small USB audio mixer, like this xenyx 302 USB 3 channel mixer.
You can plug a microphone into it, like the lapel microphone I’m using now, and 2 other line feeds. Then you can mix the sound levels so that you have a balance between your voice and the music.
DJ city sells this one for $97.00.
But do some searches and see what else is out there.
If you can afford to, I would look at trying to get a better camera, then the one on your laptop.
There are some good quality webcams out there, at places like OfficeWorks, or a proper Video cam would help even more if you pre-record your lesson.
Try and get some good lighting. An LED panel like this is perfect. However just having a lot of white light is good. Try to avoid the more yellow lights.
We’re all in this together. Hang in there, and if there’s anything I can do to help or you have any questions please give me a call on 0413 75 43 43 or email me, email@example.com.
